Officers of the Valparaíso PDI Anti-narcotics Brigade dismantled a band dedicated to drug trafficking made up of four Chileans and a Peruvian citizen who were surprised with 164 kilos of drugs.
The illegal substances, which were brought into the country through unofficial border crossings, had as a final destination the communities of Quilpué, Villa Alemana and Valparaiso.
To this end, they used as modus operandis people who acted as "mules" or "human couriers", who carried for each trip no more than 10 kilos of drugs on interprovincial buses.
The operation carried out by the PDI determined that one of the suspects leased a property in the city of Tocopilla, a place that was used as a collection center for the "alkaloids", in order to distribute it to the central area of Chile. With this due diligence, the civil police took out of circulation 147 kilos of cocaine base and 16 of cannabis sativa, all valued at more than 1,500 million pesos.
